The key elements of the established core utility strategy are to stabilize utility earnings, overcome weather volatility, and to resolve regulatory issues in a manner that enhances the focus on customer service and business results. To stabilize earnings, the company is managing the levers that can be affected and minimizing the variables that cannot be affected. Reduce regulatory rate case dependence
Decrease the need to file for frequent rate increases. Control or reduce operating costs through innovation and improved processes. Develop regulatory mechanisms that permit appropriate recovery of operating costs,
a fair return to shareholders and mitigate the impacts of uncontrollable
factors such as weather and fluctuating wholesale gas prices on the
Company and its customers.
